For this example, I've excerpted the relevant sections from tables for hem-fir, Douglas fir-larch, and spruce-pine-fir (Figure 4) Start by securing Eastern White Pine 1x6s flat against the ceiling grid using a nail gun. In our case, we layered two 1x6s on top of one another to build up the height of the grid. Using a jigsaw, cut holes as needed to accommodate light fixtures into the flat 1x6s. Next, measure, mark and cut two Eastern White Pine 1x4s to flank the 1×6 So it's refreshing that the design team behind this project interpreted blue pine's distinctive look in a totally different way. The floors in this home are 12 wide planks of blue pine. When paired with the home's simple white walls, glass tile backsplash, and modern light fixtures, the results are crisp, clean, modern lines
